Iran’s Information and Communication Technology Research Institute is leading the country’s team at international artificial intelligence standards meetings in Montreal, where it is presenting technical proposals for consideration in the drafting process.

The meetings run Oct. 26–30, 2026, according to a report from Iran’s Communications Ministry quoting Mohammad Hossein Sheikhi, the institute’s head. Representatives from different countries are discussing technical issues related to AI standardization, he said.

Sheikhi said the institute is drawing on its specialist expertise to support Iran’s participation in the technical discussions and the development of international AI standards.

“The Iranian team is presenting the country’s views, proposals and technical considerations at these meetings and following up to have them reflected in the standards development process,” he said.
