Iran’s first vice president ordered a permanent working group to draft digital laws, led by the presidency’s legal affairs office and including private-sector representatives.
Iranian First Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref has ordered the formation of a permanent working group to review and draft laws governing digital activity, assigning the presidency’s legal affairs office to lead it.
The group will include representatives from the Ministry of Information and Communications Technology, the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Finance, the presidency’s office for science, technology and the knowledge-based economy, and the private sector. Its mandate is to review and draft legislation in stages to build a legal framework suited to digital activity.

Aref issued the order on October 28 while chairing a meeting of the government body responsible for coordinating cyberspace policy, according to his office. Participants also discussed improving cybersecurity, supporting skilled workers, providing insurance for people who work through online platforms, and developing domestically produced communications equipment.
