On Monday evening, the official website of Sharif University of Technology was targeted in a cyberattack that altered its homepage identity. The university’s logo was replaced with its pre-1979 name, “Aryamehr University of Technology,” and the former emblem was restored in place of the current one.

Screenshots circulating online showed the university’s branding removed and substituted with the old insignia. Following the breach, the website became temporarily inaccessible to users.

University Confirms Cyberattack

In an official statement, Sharif University’s public relations office confirmed that the main website had been subjected to cyberattacks the previous day, leading to its temporary shutdown.

The statement added that technical investigations were underway and that user access would be restored once security assessments were completed.

Services Restored

According to Digiato’s review, both the university’s main website and its learning management system have since returned to normal operation.
