Rightel and the Telecommunications Company of Iran (TCI) have emerged as the winners of the auction for frequency bands allocated to 5G development.
Hamid Fattahi, head of the Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA), announced: "Based on Resolution No. 2-360 of the Communications Regulatory Commission, the allocation of frequency blocks in the 3600-3800 MHz range was conducted through an auction, divided into two 100 MHz blocks."
The winners, Rightel and the Telecommunications Company, will now be responsible for the deployment of fifth-generation (5G) mobile networks in Iran.
Fattahi added that the winning operators are required to gradually provide 5G access to users across the country.
Sattar Hashemi, Iran’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology, commented on the matter via X (formerly Twitter): *"With the completion of this auction for the 3600-3800 MHz band—one of the most crucial frequency ranges for 5G expansion—the path is now open for the accelerated development of ultra-fast, next-generation fixed and mobile internet. God willing, citizens and businesses will soon benefit from these advancements."*
