Reports from some users on social media indicate that Snowa and Daewoo brand televisions in Iran may have been hacked or infected with malware. The Entekhab Industrial Group has announced that the issue is technical and will be resolved within 24 hours.
Reports of Malfunctions and Hacking
In recent days, users have reported that Snowa and Daewoo smart TVs have stopped functioning. Their operating systems are not running, and there are no instructions or files available to reset them to default settings. Digiato cannot independently verify the accuracy of this information.
These individuals claim that Snowa TVs and refrigerators connected to the internet were hacked and taken offline. One user explained that after their Snowa smart TV stopped working, they contacted customer support for warranty assistance. They were informed that the issue is widespread and will be resolved within 72 hours.
Similar reports have emerged regarding Daewoo televisions. Users have stated that these internet-connected TVs were infected with an unspecified malware. The manufacturer has not provided any explanation regarding this issue.
Financial Dispute with Chinese Company
Additionally, some unofficial reports have suggested that Snowa failed to fulfill certain financial commitments to a Chinese company. This led the company to disrupt access to the televisions in Iran through a "forced update" to pressure the Iranian side into paying its debt.
Last night, the Entekhab Industrial Group announced that the problem affecting Snowa and Daewoo smart TVs is technical. They assured customers that the issue would be resolved within 24 hours. According to their statement, owners of these TVs should not worry about hardware or software issues with their devices.
