The CEO of Irancell outlined the measures taken by the company to ensure network stability and maintain communication infrastructure during the recent 12-day war. He announced that Irancell faced an estimated financial loss of approximately 1,000 billion tomans during this period.
Alireza Rafiei explained that various infrastructures across the country were threatened or damaged during the war. He said, "Communication companies played a vital role in maintaining cohesion and ensuring uninterrupted service delivery to citizens."
Ensuring Connectivity During Wartime
Rafiei emphasized the priority of stable connectivity during wartime conditions. He stated, "From the moment the crisis began, our top priority was maintaining stable connectivity and providing uninterrupted services to subscribers nationwide. In many cities, we faced simultaneous power outages and cyber threats. However, we strived to minimize disruptions by leveraging internal technical capabilities and mobilizing available resources."
Rafiei highlighted efforts by technical teams to ensure continuous service delivery, saying, "Not only did Irancell's digital services and online support remain operational, but we also worked to ensure communication needs were met even in the most remote areas." He noted that technical teams worked tirelessly around the clock to monitor and address issues as they arose.
The CEO praised the proactive approach of Irancell employees. He stated, "Under war conditions, our colleagues worked remotely whenever possible. However, senior management and essential teams who were required for network stability operated full-time and were present at critical sites."
He added that maintaining network stability in such challenging conditions was made possible by prior preparations, crisis drills, and the team's proactive spirit. "Preserving communications during a crisis is not just a public service but a component of national security," he emphasized.
Service Interruptions and Recovery Efforts
Despite efforts to maintain service levels, Rafiei acknowledged unavoidable interruptions in certain areas due to challenges imposed by the war. He noted that as soon as the crisis ended, services were restored to normal levels as quickly as possible. Lessons learned during the war will be incorporated into future plans for network maintenance and stability.
Rafiei explained that restrictions on network access, while necessary under wartime conditions, led to negative customer experiences with Irancell's services. This inability to fully meet customer satisfaction resulted in financial losses for the company.
Financial Impact on Irancell
The CEO revealed that Irancell experienced significant financial losses during the war, with initial estimates indicating a revenue loss of nearly 1,000 billion tomans. He noted that other companies within the country's ICT ecosystem also faced similar challenges.
Rafiei expressed hope that supportive policies from authorities and special resources for infrastructure restoration would help the ICT industry implement development plans to meet growing demand. "What matters most in such moments is not financial loss but preserving human connections during difficult times. We proudly fulfilled this mission," Rafiei concluded.
