The Iranian Parliament has directed the Ministry of Information and Communications Technology to establish a national artificial intelligence marketplace. This mandate follows the approval of Article 10 of the National Artificial Intelligence Plan. The initiative will be implemented in collaboration with the National Artificial Intelligence Organization.
Goals of the AI Marketplace
The marketplace aims to enhance access to data and foster the development of artificial intelligence products. During the parliamentary session, 192 out of 219 representatives voted in favor of the measure.
The legislation specifies that the marketplace must utilize existing capacities and involve private sector participation. It will act as a platform for offering public sector data verified by the Electronic Government Interoperability Working Group, alongside artificial intelligence-related products and services.
Implementation Timeline and Guidelines
The Ministry of ICT and the National Artificial Intelligence Organization have six months to draft and finalize the executive guidelines for the marketplace. These guidelines require approval from the Executive Council for Information Technology before implementation can proceed.
