Mobile Internet Prices Increase by 20 Percent
Mobile internet prices rise by 20%, effective December 2, 2025.
Mobile operators MCI and Irancell have raised their internet package rates by 20 percent. The operators stated that the price adjustment was approved by regulatory authorities.
Details of the Price Increase
The new rates took effect at midnight on December 2. This adjustment follows an earlier request by operators for a 75 percent increase, which was only partially approved by the Communications Regulatory Authority.
Mobile operators attribute the price hike to rising maintenance and network development costs, currency fluctuations, and overall inflation. They noted that stable tariffs in recent years created a significant imbalance between revenues and expenses. This imbalance, if unaddressed, could have led to challenges in maintaining network quality and internet speed.
Impact on Customers
With the revised rates, customers of MCI and Irancell will see updated prices for internet packages on apps and online purchase platforms starting today.
Previous Internet Price Adjustments
The last increase in internet prices occurred in January 2023. At that time, operators requested a 100 percent hike, but the Ministry of ICT approved a 34 percent rise. The approval included conditions such as expanding 5G site coverage and improving internet quality. However, it remains unclear how much progress operators made in meeting these conditions.
