Government spokesperson Fatemeh Mohajerani stated that expert analysis confirms internet filtering increases costs.

Reflecting on the first year of President Masoud Pezeshkian's administration, Mohajerani noted that while the government has pursued its promise to lift filtering, certain platforms remain restricted. Over the past year, efforts have resulted in the unblocking of WhatsApp and Google Play, but broader progress has been limited.

Mohajerani emphasized that the president holds significant authority over national councils and has the power to remove filters, yet described the administration as one focused on consensus-building.

As the government enters its second year, questions remain about whether it will achieve a broader consensus or continue to face challenges in addressing internet restrictions.
