Iran's Minister of ICT, Sattar Hashemi, has attributed recent GPS disruptions to security measures related to the potential presence of drones.
Speaking on the sidelines of a cabinet meeting, Hashemi stated that these issues are aimed at protecting citizens and are coordinated by intelligence, security, and military agencies. He added that efforts are underway to gradually resolve these problems.
Hashemi acknowledged that the disruptions have impacted business operations and reduced communication quality. He emphasized that frequency spectrum and GPS signals are vital infrastructure for mobile operators, and inadequate management has led to decreased service quality in recent weeks.
Regarding the possibility of adopting Chinese systems as an alternative to GPS, Hashemi noted that Iran is open to leveraging all available global technologies rather than relying solely on one system.
