Last week, reports emerged suggesting that a permit had been issued to host an exhibition titled 'Iran GITEX' in Tehran. The main organizers of this event were announced as the National Association of Artificial Intelligence of Iran and the IzIran Institute. However, the chairman of the ICT Commission of Iran Chamber of Commerce has raised concerns about the unauthorized use of global brand names for domestic exhibitions.
According to the Iran Chamber of Commerce News Portal, Ali Masoudi stated, 'The GITEX International Exhibition is one of the most prestigious events in the field of information and communications technology, held in various countries worldwide. So far, no exhibition with this title has ever been held in Iran, and using the name 'GITEX' for domestic events is both inappropriate and misleading.'
Masoudi emphasized that such actions could cause serious challenges and restrictions for Iranian companies and economic players in international arenas, particularly at GITEX exhibitions. Unauthorized use of global brand names, especially in the technology and digital economy sectors, carries consequences that would primarily impact the country's private sector.
He urged regulatory bodies and authorities responsible for issuing exhibition permits to address these matters with greater care and accountability. Neglecting intellectual property rights and the standing of reputable global brands could result in irreparable damages for Iranian professionals and businesses on the international stage.
