Iran Launches Emergency Loans for Digital Economy Firms Hit by 12-Day War
Iran’s Ministry of ICT has launched an emergency support program, offering more than 10 trillion rials in loans to digital businesses affected by 12-day war.
Iran's ICT Ministry has launched an emergency loan program to support digital economy firms hit by the recent 12-day war.
Deputy Minister of Technology and Innovation Meysam Abedi announced on Wednesday, July 9, that the operation has already commenced to issue emergency monetary assistance. "A package of special facilities has been designed to assist digital economy companies which were destroyed during the recent war," he told.
The initiative followed direct orders from Minister Sattar Hashemi, who toured major platforms like Snapp, Yektanet, and Digikala and held talks with managers and staff to assess the level of disruption. In this respect, the ministry stated that the goal was to increase Iran's digital ecosystem resilience in case of a crisis as well as ensure continuity of online services to citizens.
The package includes over 10 trillion rials (approximately $20 million) of emergency financing, awarded in conjunction with the Innovation and Prosperity Fund. The financing is offered for preferential working capital loans.
Knowledge-based firms, along with other eligible businesses, are able to apply through the Ghazaal online portal, providing required documents to obtain the funds.
Participants noted that the program aims not just to stabilize short-run activity but also to ensure the preservation of jobs and promote long-run innovation in Iran's digital sector.
