According to the Iran's ICT Ministry, 5G activation on Samsung phones in Iran will coincide with the rollout of Android 15 and One UI 7 updates.
Sattar Hashemi, Iran’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology, announced the start of 5G activation for various Samsung smartphone models in Iran. This move aligns with the country’s "Tech Diplomacy" strategy and follows technical negotiations with Samsung and coordination with the Radio Communications Regulatory Organization.
The technology will first be enabled on 5G-capable devices, including the S22, S23, and S24 series, with a gradual expansion to other models by the end of summer 2025.
The regulatory body noted that if technical infrastructure is ready, Samsung may release these updates ahead of schedule for Iranian users.
