Tapsi has rejected Snapp's claim of holding over 88 percent of the ride-hailing market. According to Tapsi, calculating market share based on revenue provides a more accurate assessment than using trip counts. Mostafa Qolizadeh, Tapsi's Growth Deputy, told Digiato that revenue growth and return on investment are prioritized over increasing trip numbers.

Snapp's Report and Tapsi's Response

Earlier this week, Snapp released its 1403 (2024 - 2025) annual report, stating it held approximately 88.7 percent of the market share. The company also reported a seven percent revenue decline in June 2025 due to war conditions, but claimed its market share had surpassed 90 percent.

Tapsi disputes these figures. While both companies agree that Tapsi's market share increased in the last year, they disagree on specific numbers. Qolizadeh emphasized that market share is best evaluated through financial metrics rather than trip counts. He argued that factors such as prioritizing short trips or economy rides can distort trip count data.

Tapsi's Market Share Estimates

Qolizadeh detailed two methods for calculating Tapsi's monetary market share. Using the first method, Tapsi's share was estimated at around 23 percent in May 2024. The second method placed it at approximately 22 percent.

He also revealed that eight major cities, Tehran, Mashhad, Shiraz, Karaj, Qom, Ahvaz, and Tabriz, accounted for 74 percent of the monetary market share and 58 percent of trip counts. In these cities, Tapsi doubled its trip count over the past year. In Tehran, Karaj, and Mashhad specifically, Tapsi holds more than a 30 percent share of trip counts.

Challenges in Measuring Market Share Post-Conflict

Snapp reported a seven percent drop in revenue for June but stated its market share had exceeded 90 percent during the same period. Data from Tapsi on Codal showed a significant drop in monthly income for June compared to May figures. July income fell by approximately 50 percent compared to May.

Reacting to these numbers, Qolizadeh said it is difficult to determine accurate market shares as businesses are still recovering from the effects of recent conflicts: "It cannot yet be judged whether total market share has been lost or not." He suggested that Snapp’s operations in cities outside Tehran may have mitigated its losses during this period.

Qolizadeh concluded by stating that recalculating market shares should occur once stable conditions return.
