Abdolhossein Bahrami, head of the Steering Center for Knowledge-Based Economy Development under Iran’s Vice Presidency for Science, Technology, and Knowledge Economy, announced the finalization of the National Roadmap for Quantum Technology development. This roadmap has been collaboratively drafted with related executive bodies and will soon be reviewed and approved by the Quantum Steering Council.

Bahrami stated that the Vice Presidency, together with the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, established the Quantum Steering Council, which is responsible for high-level policy-making in the quantum technology sector. He added, "Our first step was to assess Iran’s current position in the quantum technology value chain to identify the country’s standing in this field."

The national roadmap was developed after evaluating the existing situation and in cooperation with relevant agencies. Upon the roadmap’s approval by the Steering Council, execution of programs and support for joint projects between the Vice Presidency, universities, and technology centers will begin. Funding for these initiatives will come from the Vice Presidency, internal university budgets, and affiliated executive organizations.

Bahrami further reported that the Taskforce for Quantum and Photonic Technologies has already supported numerous projects registered and approved via the Vice Presidency’s services system. These efforts aim to develop scientific infrastructure and back innovative technological proposals. He emphasized that a comprehensive report on the taskforce’s activities will be made available to the media if needed.
