Iran has detailed specific conditions for unblocking Telegram, according to Mehr News Agency. The Ministry of ICT is actively negotiating with the platform and has presented several key requirements.
Proposed Conditions for Telegram Unblocking
The outlined conditions include restricting provocative ethnic content and removing posts flagged by citizen complaints. Telegram must also cooperate with Iran's judiciary, block content promoting terrorism or deemed harmful to national security, and refrain from sharing Iranian user data with foreign intelligence agencies.
Last year, Mehr News Agency reported on a resolution that facilitated the unblocking of WhatsApp and Google Play. The current discussions with Telegram are taking place under the framework of provisions included in that resolution.
