Iran has inaugurated a fiber optic factory in Venezuela, aiming to bolster technology diplomacy, according to Iran's Minister of ICT.
During a joint meeting with members of the Parliament's Program, Budget, and Audit Commission, Sattar Hashemi underscored the importance of this initiative. He confirmed that the factory is operational and producing fiber optic products.
Hashemi also highlighted the role of Iranian knowledge-based companies in advancing Venezuela's telecommunications infrastructure. Addressing broader issues, he discussed the resilience of communication networks during cyber conflicts, noting that Iran encounters up to 20,000 daily cyberattacks targeting its portals and systems.
Additionally, he reported progress in 5G development within Iran. A frequency auction for the 3600-3800 MHz band has been completed, and selected operators are now equipping and rolling out fifth-generation mobile networks. The integration of 5G with fiber optic infrastructure is expected to significantly improve network quality.
