Iran Startups Urge End to Internet Restrictions
Over 100 Iranian startups call for ending restrictive internet policies to boost digital economy growth.
More than 100 prominent companies and startups in Iran’s digital economy have signed a statement urging authorities to end restrictive internet policies.
The Tehran Electronic Commerce Association announced the statement, which reads: "We, one hundred leading companies and startups in the country's digital economy, demand the definitive cessation of restrictive and anti-security internet policies. Our key demands include lifting filters on social networks and popular educational websites, increasing international bandwidth speed, and removing restrictions on emerging protocols such as HTTP/3 and IPv6."
The prolonged implementation of these restrictions, despite promises from the president and statements by the Ministry of ICT, has caused security vulnerabilities, widespread distrust, and significant harm to Iran's digital economy. The signatories emphasized that "free and high-speed internet for all Iranian citizens" is crucial to fostering innovation in the digital economy and providing hope for young people to build a brighter future.
