The Minister of ICT has announced plans to hold a meeting next week with the Minister of Industry, Mine, and Trade to address the issue of foreign currency allocation for IT companies.
Sattar Hashemi, the Minister of ICT, visited the capabilities of Iranian cybersecurity companies at the 28th Elecomp exhibition earlier today. During the visit, he spoke exclusively with Digiato and remarked on the quality of domestic products, stating, "The quality of products developed by Iranian companies is such that we are witnessing their services and products being offered internationally. This highlights the capabilities of Iranian companies in the cybersecurity sector."
When asked by Digiato about cybersecurity challenges, particularly following the 12-day conflict and the legal requirements for securing critical infrastructure, Hashemi elaborated: "Under Article 110 of the Seventh Development Plan, securing vital infrastructure such as railways and launching operators in the cybersecurity sector are on the agenda. Additionally, according to the budget law for 2022, various entities are obligated to allocate one percent of their operational budgets (excluding Chapters 1 and 57) to infrastructure security and leveraging private sector capacities."
Regarding issues surrounding import registration and foreign currency allocation for IT companies to procure essential equipment, Hashemi noted: "We have conducted extensive correspondence with relevant ministers, the Central Bank, and the First Vice President. Next week, a meeting involving the Minister of Industry, private sector representatives, and other officials will be held to seriously pursue these matters. Fortunately, the Minister of Industry has been highly supportive in this regard."
