Golrang Industrial Group has initiated the construction of the largest clean energy project in eastern Iran.

The groundbreaking ceremony for the 200-megawatt "Samin Mehvalat" solar power plant and a 132-kilovolt substation was held in Mehvalat County, Khorasan Razavi Province. The project, with a total investment of 6.2 trillion tomans, marks a significant step in sustainable energy development.

Minister of Energy, Abbas Aliabadi, speaking at the event, highlighted Golrang's efforts and stated, "To achieve sustainable development in the country, the investment environment must be attractive enough to encourage private sector participation. The Ministry of Energy is committed to facilitating the necessary conditions for investment." He emphasized the need for Iran to focus on increasing GDP while reducing energy consumption.

Masoud Sezavarzakerian, Vice-Chairman of Golrang Industrial Group's Board of Directors, revealed the group's ambitious goal of generating 1,000 megawatts of solar energy. "This objective not only promotes industrial growth but also paves the way for sustainable employment, localization of technology, and bolstering national economic resilience. The 200-megawatt Samin Mehvalat project is Golrang's first practical step toward this vision," he said.

Sezavarzakerian pointed out the country's energy imbalance of approximately 18,000 megawatts, noting, "Global electricity production has exceeded 30,000 terawatt-hours, while Iran's share is around 390 terawatt-hours. In solar energy, the gap is striking; Iran has only about 2.2 gigawatts of installed solar capacity, whereas its rightful share based on GDP should be at least 8–10 gigawatts, and based on global population ratios, about 20 gigawatts."

He further elaborated that of the 390 terawatt-hours of energy consumed annually in Iran, 20% could be conserved. "Golrang Industrial Group is ready, with government collaboration, to achieve between 1,000 to 1,500 megawatts of energy savings while simultaneously enhancing efficiency and productivity," he added.

The Deputy CEO of Golrang Industrial Group stressed the importance of long-term planning in the energy sector: "Current imbalances are based on existing consumption, but extensive industrial investments are underway, which will require energy in the future. Therefore, in addition to surplus energy production, efficiency must be prioritized and planned for."

Mohsen Zanganeh, member of parliament representing Torbat-e Heydarieh, Mehvalat, and Zaveh, also attended the ceremony and emphasized the need to overcome existing barriers. "Golrang Industrial Group's products and services, as a reputable brand, have always been embraced by Iranian families. With the implementation of the Samin Mehvalat project, Golrang is not only addressing part of the electricity demand but also playing a pivotal role in economic development in this single-product region," he said.

He urged the Minister of Energy and relevant authorities to eliminate obstacles, particularly in transmission lines and infrastructure, to expedite the project.

The Samin Mehvalat solar power plant is being constructed by "Samin Energy Paydar," a subsidiary of Golrang Industrial Group. With a nominal capacity of 200 megawatts, the project is expected to generate 438,000 megawatt-hours of clean electricity annually, prevent the emission of over 220,000 tons of CO2, and save 115 million liters of liquid fuel. Additionally, it will create sustainable job opportunities for hundreds of individuals.

Golrang Industrial Group stated that as one of the leading private sector players in Iran's infrastructure investments—with more than 90 production sites across 20 industries employing 65,000 people—it has now ventured into renewable energy. The Samin Mehvalat project is designed to increase the country's share of new energies and contribute to the stability of the national power grid, aligning with the group's commitment to sustainable development and diversified investment strategies.
